Important Update to Home Health Services Policy

Summary of Change: WellCare has updated their Home Health Services Policy to align with
both the claim system and ACHA encounter systems for correct claim submission.
For the following three home health codes when billing for multiple dates of service, please bill
each date of service on a separate line.

S9122: Home health aide or certified nurse assistant, providing care in the home; per hour
S9123: Nursing care, in the home; by registered nurse, per hour
S9124: Nursing care, in the home; by licensed practical nurse, per hour

Billing Tips:
Billing for Multiple Dates of Service on a Single Claim Form

• When billing for multiple dates of service, bill each date of service on a separate line.
• When claims are billed in the manner below, both the claims system and AHCA encounter
system cannot determine how many units per day are applicable. To align with AHCA
encounters, if claims are billed with a date span the claim will deny.
