Meridian to WellCare Transition

Effective January 1, 2020, MeridianCare, a WellCare company, will integrate onto WellCare’s systems and platforms and change its name and logo to WellCare. This change means current MeridianCare Medicare members will become WellCare Health Plans members.

So, what’s changing for 2020?

The migration to WellCare’s systems and platforms will bring changes to branding and some processes. These changes include:

  • Paper claims submissions process
  • SNIP claims process & error IDs
  • Real time connectivity to vendors
  • New correspondence addresses
  • New secure provider portal
  • New prior authorization vendors

Claims Process Changes

On January 1, 2020, MeridianCare will integrate with its parent company, WellCare Health Plans in Tampa, Florida.

This announcement is to help providers with changes in 2020 for Claim Submissions, Member Eligibility, Claim Status Inquires and Customer Service information.

Prior Authorizations

MeridianCare is changing its name to WellCare on January 1, 2020. Also, effective February 1, 2020, WellCare has contracted with CareCentrix to manage post-acute care for our Medicare Advantage and C-SNP members.

This notification includes information regarding future updates to prior authorization (PA) requirements for WellCare Medicare Advantage Plan (formerly MeridianCare). This list includes only those procedures and services that will have a PA requirement added.

WellCare PA requirements will change effective January 1, 2020.
