Children/Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS)

We work with you to offer services that support children, their families and their mental health. Children and their families can get Children/Family Treatment and Support Services (CFTSS) at no additional cost. Children must be:

  • Covered by Medicaid and have mental health and/or substance use needs
  • Must be less than 21 years of age

These services are available under New York Medicaid Plans:

Other Licensed Practitioner (OLP)

OLP services offer therapy sessions in the most comfortable settings for the child/family. The community-based behavioral health services are provided by:

  • Medicaid behavioral health providers
  • Non-physician licensed behavioral health practitioners (NP-LBHP)

Community Psychiatric Supports & Treatment (CPST)

CPST works with families to set behavioral health goals. The support focuses on the needs of the child. This includes:

  • Solution-focused inventions to address behavioral health challenges
  • Creating child service plans to identify goals and objectives

Psychosocial Rehabilitation Services (PSR)

PSR is a rehabilitation service that:

  • Assists children and their families
  • Implements interventions to aid functional deficits
  • Helps children with interpersonal and/or behavioral health barriers

Family Peer Support Services (FPSS)

FPSS are activities for family peers. Raising a child with developmental needs can be difficult. Family peers support each other with tips and insight in raising a child with such needs.

Crisis Intervention

Crisis Intervention services help children in time of a psychiatric or substance use crisis. They help solve a crisis experience. The service follows three steps.

  1. A culturally-competent assessment
  2. Development  of a crisis plan
  3. Support for families and caregivers

Youth Peer Support and Training (YPST)

YPST is offered by youth peers. Their lived experience helps them to give training and support other youth. Youth peers help the youth in treatment planning and skills to meet goals.
