Notice for Florida Providers Regarding WellCare’s Commitment to Service during Hurricane Irma

WellCare is committed to our members and providers, and easing preparation for Hurricane Irma. To ensure access to care for your patients/our members, we have contingency plans in place. 

As a WellCare provider, you should be aware of the following:
  • In preparation for Hurricane Irma, pharmacies can refill prescriptions early. 
  • Many of our members in FL have been asked to evacuate to other area in the state. Please accommodate any of our members seeking care outside of their immediate areas. 
  • We have waived authorization requirements for FL Medicare (WellCare) and Medicaid (Staywell and Staywell Kids) plans until further notice.
  • WellCare transportation partners are encountering longer than normal hold times for patient rides. We apologize for the inconvenience; and ask for your patience.
  • Because of this storm, you may experience longer than usual wait times when calling the health plan provider services. We highly encourage the use of our self-service tools such as the secured web site and the automated phone system .There you can perform services such as eligibility checks, authorization status and requirements, claims status and much more. We appreciate your patience and understanding.
  • Please be assured that we will do our best through these trying circumstances to serve you and your patients..
