Medical Injectables Prior Authorization Requirements:

WellCare continuously strives to reduce barriers to care and therapies. In reviewing our medical injectable prior authorization requirements, WellCare identified an opportunity to consolidate and align the list of required codes. We have combined our Medical and Pharmacy injectable prior authorization code lists into one consistent list, and aligned that list with current industry practice.

WellCare's Mail Order Pharmacy

With our mail service benefit, your patients can now have the medications they take every month mailed promptly to their home. It's easy, convenient (no more waiting in lines at the retail pharmacy) and accurate! What's best, your patients will save money! Any patient using our mail service will receive a three-month supply of medications for only two and a half monthly co-pays. For more information, click here.

WellCare's Specialty Pharmacy

WellCare offers Specialty Pharmacy services to members who are taking medications to treat long-term, life-threatening or rare conditions. WellCare’s Specialty Pharmacy team are experts in the special handling, storage and administration of these medications (i.e., injectables, infusables, orals) require. This team knows the insurance process and the member’s plan benefits. This means less chance of delays in a member receiving their needed medication(s).
